CORNISH HOLIDAY HOME, PL28
Coastal Holiday Home Renovation & Interior Design Project in Cornwall
Purchased as a coastal retreat for our clients and their family, this Cornish holiday home offered an excellent architectural foundation but lacked the warmth, personality and character they were looking for. Although the property had been built only five years earlier, the interiors felt generic and uninspiring, presenting an opportunity to create a home that better reflected both its coastal setting and the owners' personal style.
Lomax & Chi were commissioned to undertake a comprehensive interior renovation, reimagining the property to create a relaxed and welcoming holiday home by the sea. The brief centred around introducing character, colour and individuality throughout the interiors, with our clients particularly drawn to the bold forms, rich tones and timeless appeal of 1950s and mid-century design.
Working across both interior architecture and interior design, we developed a cohesive scheme that transformed the feel of the property while enhancing its connection to the surrounding landscape. We advised on all materials, finishes, lighting, bespoke joinery and furnishings, carefully curating each element to create a layered and highly personal interior. Warm timber finishes, textured materials and a carefully balanced colour palette were combined to bring depth, comfort and a sense of permanence to the home.
Alongside the design process, Lomax & Chi provided contractor site management to ensure the project was delivered smoothly and to the highest standard. Through careful detailing and a considered design approach, the property was transformed from a relatively new but characterless house into a vibrant and sophisticated coastal retreat.
The result is a distinctive Cornish holiday home that combines contemporary comfort with the enduring influence of mid-century design, creating a welcoming space for family gatherings, entertaining and escaping to the coast throughout the year.
