Acton family home, W3

This project saw Lomax & Chi carry out the complete reconfiguration and refurbishment of the ground floor of this family home in West London. The brief was to create a more functional and sociable layout that could better support the day-to-day needs of a growing family, while introducing a greater sense of light, space and connection throughout the home.

The project included both a rear extension and side return extension, allowing the property to be significantly reconfigured and expanded. Our clients wanted to incorporate a new WC, utility room and a generous open-plan kitchen and dining space, complete with a dedicated play area for their young children. Careful spatial planning was key to ensuring that each area felt connected yet clearly defined, creating a home that could adapt to family life while remaining practical and organised.

Maximising natural light was a central part of the design approach. Large glazed openings and carefully considered sightlines draw daylight deep into the plan, creating bright and welcoming interiors throughout the day. The new layout improves circulation and strengthens the relationship between the living spaces and garden, encouraging a seamless flow between inside and out.

The interior design focused on creating a relaxed and uplifting family environment, balancing durability with warmth and character. A carefully curated palette of materials, colour and texture introduces a sense of playfulness while maintaining a cohesive aesthetic throughout the space.

The result is a light-filled and highly functional family home that supports modern living while providing flexible spaces for entertaining, relaxing and spending time together. This West London renovation demonstrates how thoughtful interior architecture and spatial planning can transform the way a home is experienced and enjoyed.
